Stephen: ‘This is not a defeat’
By Brian Lawson, PolitickerNH.com ReporterMANCHESTER--Former Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen (R-Manchester) told supporters that they should be proud of the movement they have created.
Stephen narrowly lost to former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) in the 1st Congressional District Republican primary on Tuesday.
"This is not a defeat," Stephen told supporters at The Yard restaurant. "This is the beginning of bringing conservative values back to Washington."
Stephen told supporters that they can "hold their heads high" because of the positive campaign they participated in.
"In the end our campaign was about putting principles over party," Stephen said.
Stephen ended his speech by urging people to volunteer for the Republican ticket.
